East Coasters are Lazy
When I was a kid, the neighborhood would light up after Thanksgiving. All of our neighbors would put up lights to celebrate the holiday season, and some of our neighbors had some pretty cool displays. We had the family across the street that put lights up on their ham radio tower. If you were within about a mile of my house, you could see their light display. As the only Jewish family in the entire neighborhood, we were the only house that chose not to put up lights, and it stood out in its uniqueness.
Here in Hartford, you are more likely to find a holiday light display in a town square than your are outside someone's home. I don't know if people around the country have gotten lazier and I have just noticed it now or if people in Hartford just don't care about this as much. I always found creative light displays to be pretty cool.
My message to everyone in Hartford that owns a home? Get creative and use your real estate effectively!
