Minor Milestones

I've been trying to improve my eating habits all year. Starting sometime in April, I started to get a little more serious about my diet. At that time, I started eating oatmeal for breakfast almost every day and salad for dinner most nights during the week. I also removed peanut butter from my apartment and almost completely removed cheese from my diet. Going without peanut butter has proved extremely taxing at times. I still get huge cravings for a little peanut butter as part of an evening snack on occasion, but while I occasionally let my healthy diet slide for a few days at a time (i.e., the Vegas trip), I will not surrender to the temptation of peanut butter.

Today, I achieved a minor milestone. I stepped on a scale at the gym and it read 199.5 pounds! Woo hoo! I can't remember when I last weighed under 200 pounds! Granted, I have been in the 200-210 range for the past couple years, so I haven't really lost that much weight. I still consider it to be an accomplishment, even if I can't really notice any difference yet.

In all honesty, I think the loss of 5-10 pounds is more due to the fact that I have not been lifting weights at the gym the past month. I just started lifting weights at the gym again recently, so I'll probably be back over 200 shortly, but I decided to enjoy this for a day. My salad for dinner was extra tasty! (but I still have no peanut butter in the apartment)

Congrats, Gary. I hope you're not going to get all pro-ano on us a la Nicole Richie, though - there was a time in my life I cut out peanut butter, chocolate, eggs, cheese, etc, and it definitely didn't correlate to a time when I felt LESS crazy!
