Office Space Moment
I wasn't totally with it this morning. Despite getting plenty of sleep and feeling well rested and recovered from the Vegas trip, I was not sharp in my morning meetings. I think I just spaced out for about an hour or two when I got into work today. My boss has a weekly 15-minute meeting every Monday morning with everyone in his organization. When it was my turn to speak briefly about what my staff was working on this week, I froze. I even forgot that I had a new internal transfer starting today and didn't introduce him to everyone. My boss called me out (jokingly) and wondered if my mind was still in Vegas and then started asking for Vegas stories. It was not my only space-out moment in a meeting today either. Hopefully I'll be with it tomorrow.
I signed a lease today for a new apartment. I am moving to Manchester in about a month. After four years in Bloomfield, I figure it's time to give up the 2-mile commute and live in a more fun location. No more roommate though (since I may have to break this lease in a few months), so the evenings will be strangely quiet most of the time. I'll be close to a few of my regular readers (FlyingV, UNICorn, K-Pal), so you all can come over for dinner once in a while if you are brave enough to try my cooking.

I was teaching an English lesson this morning when all of the sudden I just stopped in mid-sentence and started looking at the pictures on the wall. The thing about it was, I wasn't even aware I was doing it until the kids started laughing at me. Talk about spacing out. Wish I'd been in Vegas this weekend...at least then I would have an excuse.
Just as a post-script here, do you think it's weird that I comment randomly on your blog? I was just thinking that perhaps it was but I have recently lost my ability to judge what is weird and what is not.
haaaaaaappy birthday to you, haaaaappy birthday to you, happy birthday, dear gary, happy birthday to you.
:)
I love Maverick!!!
I love to be called Gar Bear!
she wasn't asking you, roop.
Erin, it's not weird at all. I don't really know gary in real life either. I just pretend like I do.
ok. seriously though... no, I don't think it's weird. and none of us really like bucknell, so just ignore roop.
and in case you didn't all gather from my previous comment (I was trying to clue you in...), TODAY IS GARY'S BIRTHDAY! at least for another 1.25 hours it is.
Few comments:
1) Erin - your comments are welcomed and appreciated. I don't find it weird that you chime in now and then, and I appreciated your book suggestion a while back.
2) Maverick hijacked my computer tonight during taco night. I did not actually post those comments, nor do I have any idea who this "Gar Bear" character is.
3) I'm old.
You give a Michigan guy one margarita and he announces his love for a Longhorn to the whole world--that was easy! I'll let the lies of computer hijacking go since it is still technically his bday.
On another note, I have a few suggestions for names for the unnamed, TriGirl or IWasSoDrunk. I'll let you know if I think of more...
Good to know that when I come back to America, I may actually fit in with "normal society". And if I can`t, I guess I can always move to Conneticut and be friends with you!
I know I`ve said it before, and I`ll say it again, I think your blog is highly amusing/a great time passer at work.
As far as another random comment goes, I hope that when you went to Las Vegas, you pronounced "Nevada" properly...the a`s are short. Let`s hear a shout out for my home state!
And finally, I am sorry, Roopdog, but BUCKNELL??
hahahaha!
Erin, I LOVE YOU!!!! my thoughts exactly.
