DE-FENSE! (clap clap) DE-FENSE! (clap clap)

Tonight was the first game of the best-of-three softball championship. series against Son of a Pitch. I won't refer to them as The Assholes since they were actually pretty nice today (and not overly bitchy).

For the first time that I can recall, P&C played an error-free game. Even when we shut out The Swarm last week, we made a couple of errors. The closest we came to making an error today was when I blocked a very hard ground ball, but wasn't able to field it cleanly enough to throw out the runner. They took advantage of that play to score twice in the third inning. It wasn't enough though. P&C won 5-2 thanks to a great game of small ball (3 runs scored on sacrifices) and we have a 1-0 lead in the series. Given how much SOP tries to pick on our weakest fielder, an error-free game is amazing. They took at aim at me for a good part of the game since they thought I was weak, but I was in the zone today. Too bad that zone didn't carry over to hitting. After hitting .750 during the regular season, I am hitting a pathetic .333 in the playoffs (excluding the mercy killing in the first round since that team wasn't any good). I need to stop hitting pop flies!!!

Game 2 is tomorrow and Game 3 (if necessary) is Wednesday. Go P&C!
