...We Wouldn't Have to Eat Kraft Dinner!

Well. After the amazing response (12 comments!) from my last post, I guess I should uphold my promise and complete the post. However, given that like nine of the posts related to the 1-10 Bucknell Bison football team, I might have to leave you all hanging for another day or two. Just kidding!

Before I get started, I’ll take a second to brag about my indoor soccer team. I recently joined an indoor soccer team that a few of my friends have played on this winter. Shenanigans, a bottom feeder in the lowest Men’s indoor soccer division out in Farmington, decided to let me prove whether hockey/broomball goalie skills translate to soccer. While hockey and soccer don’t mix, I am proud to tell you that we won a game last night! We are now 2-3 this session with three close losses. Woo hoo! Sadly, we are 1-0 this session when I have not played.

Ok, back on topic. If I didn’t have to worry about money and was willing to walk away from my posh job that pays well in return for the occasional 70-hour workweek, there are a lot of things that I would love to do. However, if I had to pick one new career, I would choose writer. I don’t have any specific topic to write about. After all, as you all know, I have an opinion on just about everything that I am always willing to share (regardless of whether it is solicited).

My brother spent two years serving in the Peace Corps in Ghana. He wrote fascinating letters back home every couple weeks that we distributed to a lot of his friends and former teachers from high school. His stories and his experiences were absolutely amazing, and I’d love to be able to write about experiences like that someday (though I don’t think I’d survive two months in a third world country, yet alone two years).

Whether I became a freelance writer or a columnist for a major newspaper or a professional blogger (is there such a thing?), I think it would be fun. I could travel to a bunch of cool places and write about my experiences, or just write about sports all the time (or both…Manchester United game anyone??).

It’s actually part of the reason that I started this blog. Although intrigued initially by the CrazyChicas blog, I had thought about keeping some sort of journal for a while. I figured a public journal would be more interesting than one that only I could read. I have used this site to mostly write about my life instead of more important events in the world, but I do my best to find an interesting topic beyond my own life once in a while. Maybe I will start doing more of that. We’ll see.

Sorry for the sap story. Please keep reading my site. I need friends. Seriously.

gary, I think you should go wrestle alligators and write about your experience. that seems right up your alley.

roopdogg. I'd just stop if I were you. insulting us for not being ranked after one poor season is just silly. [sidenote: did y'all know that the last time we weren't ranked post-season was... well, I don't even know because mgoblue.com doesn't document it. before 1972, that's all I know] If you really want to start ripping on us you have to bring us something better than that. There are three women who read Gary's blog, bleed maize and blue, adore our football team, and could tear you down in this argument. just... don't. seriously. we might look cute and cuddley, but we'll bare our claws if provoked. :)

and gary, I love your excitement about having 12 comments. now upload a goddamn myspace picture. Ju even has pics on her myspace, and she joined like 3 months after you. get with the program. you'll never make my top 8 without a picture.

roopdogg, get with the program too. everyone in the world needs to be on myspace.

don't you guys listen to Interpol? YOU SHOULD BE IN MYYYYYYSPAAAAAACE!

[sorry for the rambling. I have been in a much better mood lately, and y'all are having to deal with it. but i'm sure gary likes the comments.]

speaking of Michigan Football... the last spring practice is Saturday! I wish I didn't have a bunch of finals to work on... but they're broadcasting on the TKA, so at least I can listen to it!

It's been such a long time since I listened to TKA...I heard Fithian isn't on in the afternoon anymore, though. Who'd they get to replace him?

Ju, I never listened to the afternoon show so I didn't really know, but I googled and found this article for you.

I just want to have two consecutive posts get ten comments each. Nevermind that none of the comments have anything to do with the original post. Who cares?

Mouse - how do you post a link in a comment?

I never listened to Fithian on WTKA, but I don't know how I'd survive Michigan's hockey season without WTKA's live feed over the internet!
