It's an Open Secret
I think everyone who reads this blog knows already, so I'm not averse to mentioning this on my blog. I'm moving to Philadelphia around the end of the year. After thinking it over for a long time, and nearly moving to Philadelphia a little over two years ago, I decided that it was time to move somewhere else. It's not a knock on the great people I've met here in CT over the years, but I am just ready for something else.
I was very concerned that I would not be able to find a decent position in Philadelphia with my current employer. However, I was very fortunate to find an interesting and unique opportunity thanks to an unexpected departure in Philadelphia. I started cross training for the new role a couple of weeks ago and will continue to juggle two completely unrelated jobs until both sides agree on an acceptable transfer date (i.e., whenever a replacement is identified for my current job).
Since both departments have not worked out a transition date, the exact details of my move are still not entirely resolved (or public to people at work). Hence, it's more of an open secret that I'm moving since no official announcement can be made yet regarding my current position or my new position at work. Everyone in Philly knows I am taking the job since there is no lame excuse to explain why I am down there so often. I've told a small handful of people in CT that I am moving, and I think a few others have picked up on it since I've been traveling to Philadelphia on business so much lately, which really makes no sense given my current role.
I'm planning to get an apartment starting December 1st. Regardless of my official transition date (sometime in Dec or Jan), I have 10+ vacation days left that I can use to get settled in to my new apartment. If I can't get out of my current job by the end of the year, I can always travel back and stay with friends while I wrap things up.
I'm going to sign a lease when I go back down to Philadelphia in a week. These are the two 'finalists'. I'm pretty sure I know what I'm going to do, but feel free to chime in if you have an opinion.

Hey Gary,
I really like the second link apartment with the two fireplaces. I'm a sucker for the wood trim, however.
The gym/pool and location of the first place seems really nice, though, and those might tempt me away from the two fireplaces.
Which one are you going to get?
