Little Help?

Big dilemma. If I were to finally buy a Steve Yzerman customized Red Wings jersey (after years of window shopping), should I get a red jersey or a white jersey? I've always had a fondness for the white jersey, but most people I ask would choose red.

Check it out. The vote. Just note that I may ignore your vote and get white anyway.

Hockey Fan's Paradise

It's been way too long, but I'm super excited about the Wings-Avalanche series that just started last night. Sure, only a few players remain from the seven-year stretch where these teams battled in the playoffs five times, but it's a perfect excuse to check out these memorable Red Wings moments from my high school/college years.

Enjoy!

Claude Lemeiux has no honor. He'll sucker punch you when you aren't looking, but he won't fight you like a man.

Revenge
. The night the Wings won their first cup in 40+ years, and the night Darren McCarty became a legend in Detroit. Yes, you can win the Stanley Cup during a regular season game.

Playoff Revenge. 1997 Western Conference Finals. Marc Crawford's father would be disappointed in his son's behavior on this day. One of the best quotes from a coach ever.

(I'll skip those Colorado wins in '99 and '00)

Statue of Liberty - Game 6, 2002 Conference Finals. Patrick Roy's arrogance allows the Wings to score what ultimately holds up as the winning goal, forcing Game 7 back in Detroit. It was the beginning of the end for Patrick Roy, who was shelled for 7 goals in game 7 and retired after a disappointing season in 2003.

The 2008 playoff meeting between these two teams may no longer contain as much venom, but I still love it. Go Red Wings!

This is Moderately Disturbing

Take this survey. Do it now!

Corruption, in a Bad Way

When my hard drive crashed last month, I wasn't too upset. I had backed up my computer at the end of December, so I really did not lose that many personal files or music.

Or so I thought. I copied all of my music (~4GB) from my backup DVD to my new computer this week. About 1.5 GB of the music was corrupted. Apparently the files did not burn properly to the DVD. Grr. Losing that much music blows.

Thankfully, I was able to recover about half of what I lost from older backup CDs that I had. Unfortunately, I lost all of the music I added to my computer for the last 12-18 months. Most of that music was obtained legally through iTunes, but they don't keep a record of the music I bought.

Thankfully, TheCrazyCanuck came to the rescue tonight. She keeps her music on an external hard drive, which she let me borrow tonight. I've recovered most of what I lost. And then some! :)

I owe her. Big time.

Second Half of March - Recap

Given that it's been an entire month since my ski trip to Utah, I won't go into much of a recap. The trip was awesome, and it was great to see a bunch of my college friends once again. I'll sum up the trip in one comment from Bright, the "trip mom".

Here's the scene - Bright is driving to the airport and I am riding shotgun. He is turning left onto a main street, but he cannot see if there is a car in the right lane. He asks me to verify that the right lane is clear, which I confirm. Then Bright says "I don't even need to check because I trust you. After all, you're neurotic like me".

Probably the only time in my life that someone will call me neurotic and intend for it to be a compliment.

As for the rest of March, I went to Albany to watch Michigan capture the NCAA Hockey East Regional championship. The weekend was great. Michigan won both games. I was my super obnoxious hockey lunatic self (as opposed to my super obnoxious normal self), and screamed so much that my the end of the first period on the second night, I had completely lost my voice. It probably didn't help that I had a nasty cold/flu (which still is not 100% gone after three weeks).

As a side note, Albany blows. Most boring city. Ever. Worse than Hartford.

Say Hello to My Litte Friend

And by that, I mean my new laptop! It arrived today. :)

I'll catch up on my lack of posting over the next few days.

Please Continue to Standby

Well, the laptop damage was not that extreme (hard drive crash), but I've ultimately decided to replace my laptop since it was already over three years old.

I did a lot of research over the last couple weeks, and just finalized my purchase of a Lenovo ThinkPad this afternoon. I was thinking about switching over to the dark side (Mac) since I wanted nothing to do with Windows Vista. However, a PC was probably a better match for me, so I tried to find a solid PC laptop brand that let me "upgrade" to Windows XP. Ultimately, the ThinkPad gave me that option (Dell did not).

Thanks to Mouse (and everyone else) who helped talk me through my laptop purchase. I wish this crash could have been deferred a few months, but now just seemed like a terrible time to take a chance on Vista and I was just not brave enough to get a Mac.

I am borrowing a laptop right now and I won't have my new laptop for 1-2 weeks. I'll catch up with my posting at that time.

Anyone know of good ways to dispose of laptops that could easily be brought back into solid working condition?
